This may come as a surprise, but I don’t like having a lot of clothes. Call it a function of sharing a tiny closet with my boyfriend, or the fact that I fell victim to the Pinterest capsule wardrobe craze of the late 2010’s and somewhere buried deep inside of me is a version of myself who would love to call herself a minimalist, having too much stuff confuses and overwhelms me (she says, despite the fact that her closet is way overfilled and she’s long overdue for a cleanout). For the past 18-months or so, my mentality around shopping has been largely about collecting and curating, and I’ve become increasingly particular about the things that come into my closet (and home in general).
Every season, without any conscious thought or premeditation, I tend to gravitate towards a handful of pieces that somehow always end up perfectly mixing and matching with each other, creating a little uniform of outfits for all different occasions. Now that we’re a few weeks into the season, I’ve picked up a few new pieces and that uniform has begun to crystallize, so I thought I would share a few of the outfits I’ll be rotating through this spring and into summer. It’s a mix of old favourites, some dating back to my university days, and new loves. The colour palette is full of whites, blacks, and navy blues, and the vibe is subtly nautical, on vacation in the south of France in the 1960s.

Everything I Bought in March, April, and May
When we were in New York in March, I made three clothing purchases: a perfect boatneck t-shirt from Dôen; a white ruffled blouse, also from Dôen; and a pair of gingham trousers from Sézane, which were gifted. I swore off shopping for four weeks following our trip, until the end of April when I picked up the Toast jeans I had been eyeing for months from GravityPope, on sale.
In May, I finally sprung for the perfect sailor collar top from Dôen, which I had been wanting since last summer. We’re calling this one my (very) early birthday gift to myself. Lastly, Gillian Stevens very kindly and generously gifted me a gorgeous nightgown-inspired cotton dress from her Summer Chapter One collection — I know I’ll be wearing this a ton when the weather really heats up.

Thank you for reading! See you in the next one.
Until next time,

This is lovely to view; it is divine, and thank you for sharing. Please follow me as I follow you. I tend to start by talking about the weather, but in another blog, not on Substack. I can't afford to be a paying member anywhere, but I do click 'like' when reading 'Resonate'.
